Dictionary of British Military History

The Dictionary of British Military History provides an overview of British land warfare from the Danish invasion of the 9th century to the present day. It aims to give the general reader or enthusiast a condensed account of significant figures and events – battles, campaigns and soldiers, together with the weapons they used throughout the ages. Such a huge span of military history cannot be covered in close detail, and this is not the purpose of the book. Rather it offers a basic reference to the milestones in the history of armed forces of the British Isles.
